Paternity Leave
The Army had passed a new policy back in 2008. It allowed male soldiers to get 2 weeks of leave if their spouse has a baby. We were not able to use this back when Zachary was born, because Dan had to return to Iraq. And he had 2 weeks of R and R already given to him for the deployment. So, Dan was excited to be able to use it when Isabella was born. He also had a whole bunch of leave saved up. So, he combined 2 weeks of paternity leave and 2 weeks of his own leave. It was such a help with recovering from the c-section surgery. We loved having Daddy home for 4 weeks!
Dan loved being able to grow out a beard. Here he is on his last day of leave. He had just come back from a bike ride.
We still don't know what color her hair will turn. Her eyebrows are just starting to grow in. Sometimes her hair looks blonde. And sometimes it looks red. A funny thing is that she has hair on the back of her ears and her back! I have heard this is common and will come off. But, the boys never had it. So, it makes us giggle. We call her our little koala bear.
She sleeps so good in her cradle. She is still wearing newborn sizes!

The boys were great at entertaining themselves while we rested and took care of baby Bella.
She is still swimming in this outfit. But we love it so much. Here is princess at 3 weeks old.

The boys have been so gentle and sweet with Isabella. Here is Zach showing off his gun he made out of trio blocks.
