Finally Settled in
*****LONG POST!*****
It is the end of February 2011, and we are FINALLY settled into a home that we plan on being in for at least 3 -5 years. Yes, Dan's job could change our plans. But as of right now we are here to stay. And IF Dan's job decides to move us before those 3-5 years, then THEY will be moving us. They will be lifting the heavy furniture and packing the bajillion boxes. Because, we have officially retired from moving ourselves!
Our moving adventure began back in June 2010. Dan is notified that he has to change his job. And his new job training will take 6 months in Arizona. We decided that living in the same state for the next 6 months was the best choice for our whole family. So, we packed up our house and put it into a storage unit. Thanks to our wonderful friends Adam and Sarah, we completed this task.
June 2010 - November 2010 - We lived in Arizona. For the first few months we lived with my Mother In Law Liz. We were so grateful to her. We were able to pay off some bills while saving money on rent. And she was able to get in a whole bunch of spoiling. Then the last 4 months we lived in a very small furnished apartment. It was tiny. But we viewed it as living in a hotel for a few months and made the most of it.
End of November 2010 - We pack up a small moving truck of items acquired from Arizona(Dan's Mom was moving to Chicago and gave us a whole bunch of stuff) and add it to our storage unit. We stayed in a military hotel. And also traveled to San Diego for Thanksgiving. Also, the day before we left I was in the ER for a torn placenta. Yah, I am a trooper! We left 17' degree Utah the day before Thanksgiving to travel to sunny San Diego for Turkey Day.
December 2010 - We pack up EVERYTHING into a mega huge moving truck. (We could not have done this without the help of Uncle Jim and Aunt Stacy.) We drive from Utah to Northern California.
Bye Bye Air Force Base, snow, and Utah friends! We will miss you!
With the help of our new Bishop and ward, everything is moved from our moving truck into a 2 bedroom apartment. We had hoped to move straight onto base housing. But, we were put on to a wait list and told we could have up to a 6 month wait until we could move on to base housing. So we moved in to the apartment knowing it would be temporary. It was really nice with a fireplace and a duck pond right outside our windows. The only down side was that we had a crazy neighbor who lived above us. She had a "noise sensitivity" issue. She would complain when we had our bathroom fan on. She would also call the housing landlord on our neighbors, saying that they were too loud when they walked by her apartment. It turns out that we were 1 of 3 neighbors moving out the same weekend. And all because of this lady. Needless to say we were happy to leave apartment life. But besides the size of our back yard and the crazy neighbor....we really loved it. It was really peaceful to take walks around and had really nice amenities. Dan used the gym. And we had plans to use the pool and jacuzzi. We also loved being in walking distance to the parks.
February 2011 - We get a call saying that a house on base has become available. We throw our stuff into boxes. Seriously! We were originally told mid February that we had till the end of the month. Then the following Thursday we get a call from our apartments saying that if we are out by Sunday we can be reimbursed 1/4 of the rent. So, we literally threw everything into boxes and plastic bags. Dan's co-worker lets us borrow her truck for the weekend. And Sam(another co-worker) helped Dan move everything into our new home!
We are now in a beautiful 3 bedroom house with a 2 car garage. Dan finally has his man cave space for wood working projects. We have a huge kitchen with lots of counter space. Wrigley our 80 pound lab has a great size yard. Dan loves his job and can walk to work in 2 minutes. The neighbors are nice. And we are still in our ward(church congregation) that we love. Dan was just called as scout master of the ward. He will be in charge of all things in charge of cub scouts and eagle scouts. He is super excited about his new church calling.

We are currently busy un-packing and decorating our new home. And of course getting super excited for the arrival of our sweet baby girl. We can not wait to start decorating the nursery!!!
