Arizona keeps us busy
A few months have gone by since I have updated our family blog. Arizona has kept us quite busy! So, once again I will run by the highlights for you.
Beginning of June - we packed up our house in Utah and put it into a storage unit. We filled up our newly purchased Dodge Journey and drove to Arizona. We made a quick pit stop in Cali to stretch our legs and visit Grandma Sue. And then made it safely to Arizona.
For the first month we stayed with my Mom in law Liz. She has now been given the title of the spoiler as she continues to shower us with love and goodies. The boys are LOVING living so close to family! And I am overwhelmed with gratitude with everything she has done for us.
August - we moved into a furnished apartment that is 5 minutes from the base. I go to the base (at least) four times a week to use the base on gym. Dan is of course doing his training on base. And Benjamin is going to pre-school and playing soccer with a team on base. So, moving close to the base has helped us save gas in commuting back and forth between our house.
Dan stays very busy with his training. He is currently holds the second highest grade in his class. By the end of his schooling he will have taken 61 tests. He is the class leader and platoon Sergeant for all of the soldiers that are re-classing(changing their job in the Army). He is in formation for PT by 5 am. And he is usually released by 5 pm. We are so proud of him. He works hard. November 18th he graduates. And until then he will be a busy bee.
Leah(me) has been going to Zumba classes. This aerobics/ Latin dance class has helped me lose weight and inches, and get closer to my goal of becoming healthier and happier. I love Zumba! I am also Team Mom for Ben's soccer team. I am officially a soccer mom.
Benjamin has grown up so quickly. He is going to pre school 3 times a day, 4 hours a day. And he loves it. He was so excited to get a back pack. His favorite activities in school are painting, outside play time, and dress up time. He loves to wear the chef outfit and "cook" spaghetti. His best friend in his class is named Ben also. He thinks that is so cool. He has also joined the soccer league on base. He told us that he wanted to play football. But, since he is too young to play football he chose soccer. We have to remind him that he can not tackle in soccer.
Zachary is a bundle of energy. He is learning new words and information each day. He amazes me with how fast he is learning new information. He can count to 5 already! He has no fear and loves to climb anything. He is our dare devil.
Wrigley (our puppy) is a huge moose. He is now 8 months old and weighs 70 pounds. He is such a great family dog. And I am sure that he (as well as all of us) can not wait to move to a house with a yard again. Thank goodness the furnished apartment is only temporary. For now Wrigley is enjoying a lot of walks and trips to the local doggie park!
When we are not busy with our daily activities, we have been spending some time up in Phoenix and Tucson visiting more family. We spent the 4th of July with Uncle Gary and Pete at their house in Phoenix. That was so fun and relaxing. And about a month ago, Grandpa Ken and Grandma Trish treated us to Chuck e Cheeses and Dairy Queen on a hot summers night. Family movies on base and lots of pool time has also kept us cool on hot Arizona summer days. Another summer favorite is visiting the local Farmers Market. Homemade honey, fresh veggies and fruit, goat cheese.....so yummy.
The biggest surprise of moving here has been the Monsoon weather. A sunset in Arizona after a Monsoon storm is gorgeous. The thunder storms are massive at times. They can shake your house like a earthquake. The flash floods come on quickly. And the lightening storms can cause quite the trouble with street lights. But the sunsets and double rainbows are priceless!
