AN ADVENTURE...NOT A LIFE...THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE!
So the short version of our life the past few weeks wrapped up right before your very eyes!
* We have our last Sunday at our ward (church congregation) in Hawaii. We are given leis and they sing Aloha Oe to us.
* Dan's unit in Hawaii treats us to a fabulous lunch at Hard Rock Cafe!
* 5 days before leaving the island, Ben comes down with a 103.9 fever. We bring him to the ER because after a cold bath, Tylenol, and Motrin, it would not drop. ER does not run any tests - instead give him motrin and a grape popsicle(which Ben threw at the DR) and then sends us home(aka:hotel) saying that it was just a flu and to enjoy the Popsicle that he would not eat. Hours after bringing Ben back to the hotel, while in bed with us, he seizures and has a 104.5 fever. (I freak out and get very angry with the ER) We bring him to pediatrics and they run blood tests and a urine culture immediately and discover he has a UTI that spread to his kidney's. Ben is admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics and further tests. And a ultrasound then shows us that one of Ben's kidney's is not flushing right and is enlarged. Good news is that his fever dropped after receiving the antibiotics. He is released from hospital at 10pm the day before we are scheduled to fly out. We are sent home(back to hotel) and told to continue giving him antibiotics 2x a day until he can get further testing in UT. ( And yes, I am still fumming about the ER's lack of care!)
* Saturday morning (day of flight) - Dan goes before the promotion board and is promoted to E6!!!!! YAH FOR DAN! Who knows how he still pulled that one off after getting only 3 hours of sleep in a 48 hr time period!?!? But we are so proud of him!!!
* We take red eye flight to Cali and arrive safe and sound.
*Our car arrives safely to San Diego!
* We celebrate my Mom's 50th birthday and enjoy family time.
* Dan discovers that his E5 position that he is set to go to in Utah is no longer available to him because he got promoted to E6. We are currently awaiting word to find out if we are still leaving for UT this Saturday, or if we will be sent somewhere else.
Please be patient friends and family in UT. We are just as impatient as you to find out just where we will be living! And yes, we are trying everything possible to still get it.
While we wait........ we will be relaxing, catching up on sleep, and trying to see our friends and family here in San Diego. And on Friday we are set to enjoy Sea World - which by the way is free to active duty soldiers and their imediate family! (That was a FYI for military)

Hi, Danny, Leah,& little (big) Ben,
This is your cousin, Pammy, from Indy. (Since we haven't seen each other in a long time, Danny, I'm your Aunt Inez's daughter.)
I just got off the phone with my mom and she had also sent your forward you sent out on to me, too. I can't believe you have to go to Iraq. All I have to say is to keep your head down, I don't care if you are going to be in an office, it is better to be safe than sorry. Please know that I am very proud of you and what you are doing. You are not only serving your country, but getting a promotion and going to pre-med classes.
Leah, I am so glad that Ben is okay. Nothing scares a mother more than when their child is sick and you can't seem to figure what how to make them better. Leah, I am proud of you too. This is alot to deal with as a wife and mother, but to also be going to college yourself is amazing in it self.
I am also going back to school, have two kids, ages six & three, working full-time, and taking care of the house/husband. It can be overwhelming sometimes.
I am going to go now, but please know you are all in our prayers. I hope you are able to enjoy your holidays with everything going on right now.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Love you all,
Pammy, Chuck, Suzy, & Charlie
