The day got better
So yesterday started off a little tough. I had applesauce thrown at me, and as you read....a few other mishaps. But that is all in the past. Dan and I are both happy as little clam's right now. We bought a new car last night...well more like an SUV!
Keep reading if you want the longer version. If not skip ahead to the picture..... So our little Mazda Protege was a good car. But it definitely had it's downsides. It was considered a sports car. So insurance was high. Tiny little things went wrong with it as the years went on. The main thing was space! We just put Benjamin's new car seat in. And after doing this we realized we needed a bigger car. When Dan sat in the drivers seat, Ben was able to kick the back of his seat and push him forward. The last kicker was when the brakes started making a screeching noise on Tuesday. And on this island with the combination of the fact that the Mazda was a sports car....we would have paid an arm and a leg for brakes.
When we went to the different dealerships around the island....we were not in the frame of mind to buy...just look. The first dealership was a used lot, that we had bought the Mazda from. We had a great experience in the past, and were really impressed. But this time we were anything but. The salesman had a typical vulture sales technique. He was trying to sell us something that we didn't want. And for the vehicles we did like....he didn't know anything about them. And bottom line - they just didn't have what we wanted on their lot. So we left to go babysit some of our friends kids. We spoke in the car as we drove away from the lot. We said exactly what we liked and disliked about the cars, and salesman. Then after babysitting we decided to go look at one other lot. After seeing a whole bunch of SUV's in the front, we stopped at the Lincoln/Mercury lot. From the moment we stepped on to the lot - nothing but good comments. No vultures, the salesman we did have was WONDERFUL, and there was a much wider selection of SUVS! He asked us what WE wanted. It was all about us last night. So the car we bought had everything we wanted and so much more. Everything worked out so smoothly. Our credit had improved over the years since buying the Mazda. So, I think that had a huge impact on our experience. Bottom line - we are paying the exact payment on a nice size SUV, as we were on our tiny 4 door car. Our insurance rates have gone down. We didn't get ripped off by buying on the island versus the mainland. The price was knocked down $2500 from the asking price! We now have a car fit for the snow when we move to Utah. The inside is so great, and can easily be described below by this website I found. And we got a free tank of gas. :) Oh yeah...and Dan likes that Tiger Woods is the spokesperson for this car. It's all about the golfing right? ;) So yeah for us!!!!

This is a picture of the 2007. But the 2003 (which we bought) looks the same. The coloring of ours is a little different. Ours is a little darker.
